Nollywood Actress Stella Damasus Plans A Press Conference To Address False NDLEA Stories

It has been revealed that star actress, Stella Damasus will be holding a press conference to address false stories, which have been circulating about her especially in the blogosphere. The actress has been the victim of a particularly malicious story, which falsely claims that she was interrogated by men of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

According to her manager:

The allegations are totally false!!! And nothing like that has ever happened during her career. We are organising a press conference to this effect and we have also contacted the NDLEA PRO, who has also denied ever releasing such statements. The story is a desperate attempt by the social site to gain publicity and another weak attempt to tarnish the image of proud honourable Nigerians who have given their all to the country. Stella travelled to Cameroon on the 29th of October to shoot a movie in conjunction with the Cameroon government to promote Nollywood first, and secondly to promote the movie industry in Cameroon. She travelled with her crew and heavy equipment and no delay whatsoever was experienced. She got back on the 17th from Cameroon and is currently working on completing her movie. Again I say the allegations are FALSE and we will be holding a press conference to this effect.

E! News Host Giuliana Rancic: I'm 'Hanging In There' After Breast Cancer Surgery

A month afterundergoing a double lumpectomy as part of her breast cancer treatment, Giuliana Rancic is optimistic. 

"I'm good. I'm hanging in there," she tells Parade.com. "I have good days and bad days." 

The E! News host says she's grateful for the outpouring of support she has received – support that spanned Tweets, emails and blog posts – since she went public. 

Rancic – who discovered her tumor in the early stages during a doctor-recommended mammogram while undergoing a third round of in vitro fertilization – underwent a two-hour surgery that removed cancerous growths in both breasts as well as lymph nodes doctors thought may have been affected. 

And as her life with husband Bill Rancic plays out on the Style Network's Giuliana and Bill, she hopes those who hear her story will think about their own health. 

"Early detection means too much," she says. "I want women to make sure they're taking care of their health and being proactive."

Dead Body Of Nigerian Citizen With Knife Wounds Found In Moscow’s Suburb

The dead body of a Nigerian citizen with numerous knife wounds has been found in a Moscow southern suburb, a police source told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

“The body of a man was found in the vicinity of Nagorny lane, not far from railway tracks. According to preliminary data, an assaulter had stabbed the man many times, including in the face,” the source said.

An investigation is underway. A criminal case on murder charges has been initiated.

Eagles Coach, Keshi Rejects Fairly Used Ford Taurus 2010 Model As Official Car

Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi sensationally turned down the official car assigned to jie office. Samson Siasia, who was dismissed for poor performance in October, yesterday, handed back the car bought for him as one of perks of his contract.

Keshi, stunned the federation after he bluntly said he would not use a car that has been used by his predecessor, even though the automobile in question is only 10 months old.

The latest saga has now put NFF officials in a quandary as they are pondering the option of putting the car up for sale in order to finance a new purchase.

Even if NFF finds a new buyer for the car it will be dispensed of at a loss, while the federation in addition will have to make up for balance for a new car. The brand new Ford Taurus 2010 edition was delivered to Siasia in January 2011 with an official driver.

The market value of the car at the time it was acquired was reportedly put at N6.5 million.

BOKO HARAM : Detained PDP Senator Ali Ndume Admits Knowing Boko Haram Spokesperson

According to Saharareporters, detained People Democratic Party Senator, Mohammed Ali Ndume from Borno has confessed to knowing the spokesperson of the dreaded Boko Haram sect operating in the northeastern parts of Nigeria.

Senator Ndume represents Borno South Senatorial District at the Nigerian senate. The Boko Haram spokesperson was arrested and paraded in public yesterday by the Nigerian secret police, State Security Services (SSS).

The PDP senator finally admitted that a relationship existed between him and Boko Haram but claimed he was too "scared" to tell it to security agencies.

The source also stated that some Senators had began putting pressure on the SSS to release the Senator from detention.

GTBank Shuts Down HiTV Premises In Lagos

At about 12pm yesterday, a team of mobile police officers and two civilians; a lawyer and a staff of the Guaranty Trust Bank stormed HiTV (Nigerian-ownedpay satellite TV) premises located at 24a, Isaac John Street, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.

A staff of HiTV who spoke with dailytimes on condition of anonymity said, “They gave everyone in the building five minutes to pick up only their belongings and exit the building.”

When HiTV staff members enquired as to why they were being told to vacate their office premises, the team replied:"We don't owe you an explanation as to why we are locking the place."

Staff of TVC who were present in the building were also asked to exit and afterwards the entrance to the HiTV building was shut.

Explosion Occurs In Marina, Lagos, Left One Person Severely Injured And Damaged Cars

A gas explosion occurred on a ship while workers were on it in the Marina area of Lagos, this afternoon.

According to a radio report monitored by the blogger on Rhythm 93.7fm, the explosion which most likely occurred on a Naval jetty left one person, a worker on the vessel, severely burnt. The worker was rushed to the hospital.

The explosion also threw metal debris which hit about 5 cars in the UBA car park, leaving 3 of them seriously damaged. Some banks in the area evacuated their staff and boats were also moved away from the scene of the explosion.

The fire service had been deployed to the scene.

Former Nigerian Olympic Athlete, Ambrose Monye Arrested for Murder in South Africa

The South African police have confirmed the arrest of a former Nigerian Olympic athlete, Ambrose Monye, for the murder of a Pretoria mother, an event which sent shock waves around South Africa. 

Chanélle Henning, who was driving, was gunned down by two men on a motor bike moments after dropping her four-year-old son at school. 

Police said Monye, who competed at the 1988 Olympic Games for Nigeria and won silver medals in the 400 metre and 400 metre hurdles events at the All-Africa Games, is in custody following his arrest last week Wednesday. Monye's arrest brings to five the number of suspects so far arrested for the incident.

Police sources claimed one of the suspects - Gerhardus du Plessis - is a policeman who had already confessed to pulling the trigger. The suspects will all be charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder. 

It is unclear what the motive for the murder was and police have denied that Henning was linked to the suspects in any way. There was growing speculation that her estranged husband was linked to the high-profile murder but police say he is not a suspect at this stage. 

Two years ago, Monye faced a charge of culpable homicide after beating a Pretoria motorist Neville Olivier to death, earlier this month the former Nigerian Olympic athlete was acquitted of murder.

Ambrose Monye is regarded as one of Pretoria's most dangerous men and has long been on the police's radar for his alleged involvement in drug dealing.

Polygamous King Of Swaziland Kicked Out 12th Wife, 'Caught In Bed With His Justice Minister Friend'

SWAZILAND'S king Mswati III's 12th wife says she has been ousted from the palace after pepper-spraying a guard. Nothando Dube, also known by the royal name Inkhosikati LaDube, was ordered to "immediately leave the palace' by royal governor Timothy Mthethwa and other members of the royal family, according to reports.

Ms LaDube, 23, who has been under house arrest after she was caught in bed with justice minister Ndumiso Mamba, told the Sunday Times that she was thrown out after she tried to leave the palace to take her child to hospital. The two-year-old had injured herself while playing.

But a security guard at the gate refused to let her out.

"He threatened to hit me, saying I am not going anywhere with my child, who was bleeding from a deep wound," she told the newspaper. She said an altercation ensued between herself and the guard as she was "physically prevented" from leaving the palace.

Ms LaDube, who married the polygamist king when she was 16-years-old, said she had not seen her husband for almost a year, and was punched and kicked by another guard in July when she demanded to see him. She said she couldn't take all her belongings because they just said "you have to pack and leave now".

She was told to leave her three young children behind. It is not clear where she is currently staying. The events took place when King Mswati was taking part in a sacred ritual which requires him to live in seclusion for almost two months. His powerful mother is in charge of royal affairs during his absence.

Ms LaDube is the third of King Mswati's 13 wives to leave the palace since 2004.

Colonel Gaddafi's son,  Saif Al-Islam could face a firing squad after the Libyan government yesterday refused to hand him over to the International Criminal Court. 

Officials in Tripoli insisted Libya has no agreement with the International Criminal Court and that British-educated Saif Al-Islam, who was captured on Saturday, would stand trial in his own country for crimes against the Libyan people. The charge carries the death penalty. 

The 39-year-old used to wear fashionable western clothes and designer stubble when he threw wild parties in the South of France and at his £10million mansion in Hampstead, North London.

But when rebel fighters tracked him down in the southern Libyan desert, trying to flee over the border to Niger, he wore a bushy black beard, turban and flowing robes. Saif – who recently said he would fight to his death – claimed he was a humble camel herder and gave his name as the Arabic equivalent of John Smith. 

He then leapt from his car and made a farcical attempt to hide behind it before diving under a bundle of clothes, covering it with sand. He also rubbed sand on his face and head in an apparent attempt to disguise himself. ‘But when we told him to surrender he did,’ said Ajami Ali al-Atari, the commander of the operation.

Halle Berry, Sidney Poitier Hollywood Reporter Cover Wins 2011 Entertainment Photo of the Year

The Hollywood Reporter(THR), formerly a daily entertainment trade magazine dating back to 1930 but re-launched in late 2010, was honored as the Entertainment Publication of the Year Thursday (Nov 17) by the Los Angeles Press Club Thursday during the fourth annual National Entertainment Journalism Awards.

The long running magazine also took first place in the category of Entertainment Photo, in which they had four of the five nominations. Those honored were photographer Peggy Sirota along with THR creative director Shanti Marlar and photo director Jennifer Laski, deputy photo editor Jenny Sargent and senior photo producer Carrie Smith.

The winning photo was the cover shot of the 80th Anniversary Issue called “Barrier Breakers: Sidney Poitier and Halle Berry.”

THR also received three other first place awards in news, features and for photography.

Chief Alex Ibru, Guardian Publisher Is Dead - Saharareporters

Saharareporters has confirmed that Alex Ibru, the publisher and majority owner of the Guardian newspaper group is dead. He was 66 years old.

One source told Saharareporters’ correspondent that Mr. Ibru died today in Lagos after a prolonged period of illness.

Alex Ibru was a Nigerian businessman, founder and publisher of The Guardian newspaper, who was Minister of Internal Affairs from 1993 to 1995 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha.

Alex Ibru was a son of Chief Janet Omotogor Ibru and brother of Chief Michael Ibru, founder of the Ibru Organization. Alex Ibru was once seriously injured in what was widely seen as an attempt by General Sani Abacha regime to assassinate him.

Swedish Church Turned Into 90s Disco Club

On 11-11-11, a church in Stockholm, Sweden adopted a unique way of turning church into 90s disco club to attract youngsters closer to religion.

Instead of listening to the sermon and praying silently, the congregation inside the All Saints Church, in Stockholm were throwing their hands in the air, busting dance moves and singing to the lyrics of music, during the second ever techno Mass organized by the Swedish church.

The administration of the church installed special lights, the techno sounds which changed the worship place into dance club."It was an awesome feeling," an ecstatic Klemenjak, 21, said after his performance of the song "Never Leave Me".

"It was superfun, it was really kicking, I didn't think it would be this good before I came," said Ella Schwarz, 15. "The church isn't really my kind of thing, but after this it seems like it is great," she said. Lawyer Caterine Hogman, 46, says she was impressed with the arrangement and thinks it is good the church does something positive for young people.

Over the past 10 years, membership in Sweden's Lutheran church has fallen 13 percent and attendance at regular Sunday services plunged 50 percent to 4.6 million visits last year, worrying the clergy.

The church in Sweden has become increasingly progressive. In 1958, it allowed its first female priests, and two years ago ordained its first openly gay bishop, Eva Brunne, and gave priests the right to wed same-sex couples.

Reverend Olle Idestrom, 28, the All Saints Church Priest said, the "People say this is exactly what the Church of Sweden needs”, "We need to develop the services so that we have a service also for people, mainly from the younger generation, who like this kind of music."

But not everyone is happy about the development. "There are more than enough entertainment halls in the city to cover all tastes. Let the church remain a place for quiet contact with spirituality," said Dan Kareliusson, a representative of the nationalist Sweden Democrats party.

Sultry Nollywood actress in the best seller movie Glamour Girls years back, Eucharia Anunobi is now a born-again evangelical Christian. In a recent interview, she opens up about how she has adjusted to her new lifestyle.

I didn’t just start to serve God now; I have always been serving God. I have given my life to Christ for the past 15 years of my life; I took an altar call, the actress stated.

  

Yes, there might be moment of feeling whereby you want to walk away from God, but the moment you make up your mind to follow him He will help you. The entire life that I have lived as a movie star has been spent doing the work of God. I’ve been using my roles to serve God.

I might have acted some negative roles that I had been asked to play but I believe God, giving me fame, was preparing me to use that fame someday for His service. There were some things that one must have done in the past as a youth which is called youthful exuberance and which I can no longer do at this stage. Even as a Christian, once in a while, one has one or two failings.

I would like to recall one particular event during which I wore a particular dress, I don’t want to use the word regret, but I wish I never wore that dress. You cannot be working for God and be doing the wrong things. For me, those were some of the time of failings I was talking about. But then if you don’t fall, you cannot rise.

And that is what God is looking for, a broken heart and a contrite heart. I still pray to God to help me never to fail him again. You know wearing that cloth that was unnecessarily revealing is not for the Children of God.

Asked whether her style of acting will change henceforth, she said OK, it will slightly change. I will no longer act any role which does not have any Godly message to pass. I won’t play a role just for the sake of glorifying moral decadence.

Big Brother Amplified Reunion: Millicent Calls Alex ‘A Good Kisser’ On Ghanaian TV3’s Diva Show

Kenyan rep to the Big Brother Amplified reality TV show, Millicent has told the whole of Ghana that her fellow Ghanaian Big Brother Amplified housemate, Alex is a very good kisser. “He is a good kisser, I am not gonna lie about it,” Millicent commented on TV3’s Diva Show, Saturday morning leaving an obvious grin on the face of Alex, who was also a guest on the show.

Millicent added that when she told the other girls in the Big Brother Amplified house that Alex was a good kisser, they were all jealous because she got the first kiss. The kiss was the first to be registered in the 6th season of the hit reality TV series but certainly not the last.

Millicent was amongst the numerous women that were romantically linked to Alex in the Big Brother Amplified House. When the host of the Diva Show, Nana Aba Anamuah asked why Millicent voted Alex for eviction in spite of their close relation, the Kenyan said she did so because their relationship was starting to cause problems between her and the other housemates; and for her peace of mind, Alex had to leave the house.  She added that Alex is a wonderful person, who has always been protective of her since the very moment they met on the show.

While on the Diva’s Show, Alex and Millicent talked about life after Big Brother Amplified, dating, football and more. On football, Millicent said she was a former striker but quit playing the game when she put on a little weight, and acting came along. She seemed to know more about football than Alex who didn’t seem to speak much.  However the two now have acting in common, since Alex has also started acting in a number of Ghanaian movies.

Asked whether they were in love, the two said they wish they were in love. They denied dating each other and hesitantly answered that they haven’t kissed after the Big Brother show. Millicent is currently in Ghana for the Vodafone 4syte Music Video Awards courtesy of another Big Brother Amplified housemate, Confidence Haugen. While in Ghana, she will also be meeting some movie producers about movie roles and “chilling with Alex”.

That I have them as friends does not mean that I must do it. I know the qualities I want in a friend. So, if I find it in them, I make friends with them.

Arabiya television, citing Libyan sources is reporting ousted Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's fugitive son Seif al-Islam has been captured in Obari in southern Libya, a senior National Transitional Council official told AFPtoday.

Libyan militia commander Bashir al-Tayeleb said Saif was captured with two aides trying to smuggle him out to neighbourring Niger.

Seif al-Islam, Muammar Gaddafi's heir apparent, is wanted by the International Criminal Court. He was "arrested in southern Libya," said NTC justice minister Mohammed al-Allagui, declining to give any details.

Police Chief Shuts Redeemed Church Inside Police College

According to PMnews, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP in charge of administration at the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja Adams Audu has allegedly shut a branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG inside the Police College, Ikeja GRA.

Pastor of the church, Senior Pastor Ezekiel Ekpinkhio confirmed to PMnews on the phone that the gates leading to the church had been shut, adding that he had written to the state Commissioner of Police over the incident.

“We wrote a letter to the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Compol Yakubu Alkali over the matter a month ago, but there has been no response,” the pastor stated.

TIT-FOR-TAT: Woman Holds Arik Air Plane Hostage

This evening, a female passenger at the Warri Airport held an Arik Air plane hostage for over an hour.

The plane arrived from Lagos and she refused to disembark claiming the plane’s takeoff was delayed in Lagos and so she had to delay the plane too. It took the intervention of popular musician, Alariwo and many security agents to get her to disembark.

Other passengers who were waiting to board the plane for a Warri to Abuja flight almost rioted.

Yakubu Aiyebeni Gives Jude Aneke A Cash Gift Of $1,000

Out of favour Super Eagles striker, Yakubu Aiyebeni has given Jude Aneke a cash gift of $1,000.

The Blackburn Rovers ace also gave a pair of boots to the Nigeria Premier League hotshot, who has set a new record. Aneke, who plies his trade for Kaduna United, scored a record 20 goals this past season.

In doing so, he cosigned the 18-goal mark set by Ahmed Musa the previous season, and a 17-goal record set by Ishaya Jatau in 1990 to history books.

‘The Yak’ himself was also a top scorer in the 1999 season for Julius Berger of Lagos with 9 goals and has taken this step to encourage players who play in the domestic league.
