Royal Traditional Council of Ife Wednesday [Jul 29] said the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade, Olubuse II is alive and in good state of health, THISDAY had reported.

The Council, which comprises all traditional chiefs and title holders in Ile-Ife, said Oba Sijuade is not only in sound state of health but that the royal father is preparing for his son's wedding holding next week Sunday.

Man Cuts Off Wife’s Hand Over Adultery Allegation In Abia State

Jacob Nwachukwu from Abala in Obingwa LGA of Abia State has cut off his wife’s left hand over allegation of infidelity. The man’s wife, Mrs Nwadiokeonu Nwachukwu, is now at a hospital in Aba, while her severed hand had been taken to her husband’s village at Abala for burial.

The incident happened, Monday, at Ogbor Hill Area of Aba, where the woman had lived for years, while the husband lived at their Abala village. A female co-tenant of Mrs Nwachukwu, who craved anonymity, told Vanguard that the couple had lived in the city for years before the husband lost his job and had to relocate to the village, leaving his wife, a trader, in the city.

Man Dies After Drinking 20 Sachets Of Gin In N500 Bet In Abia State

A middle-aged man, identified as Chucks from Imo State, has died after consuming 20 sachets of gin in a N500 bet with a woman. The deceased, said to be a barber, is married with a child and lived along Ngwa Road area of Aba, Abia State.

An eyewitness told Vanguard that the deceased had on the fateful day, gone to a nearby local shop situated within the area to take a sachet of his usual brand of gin and boasted to the shop owner that he could finish 20 sachets of the drink.

A 41-day-old baby, Zainab Olajide, has died after she was allegedly poisoned by her father, Kazeem Olajide, in a desperate attempt to divorce his wife. The incident happened at about 7am on Friday at Toluwalase Estate, Ijoko-Abule, in the Lemode area of Ogun State.

The baby’s mother, Abosede Ogundare, had left Zainab with Kazeem to sweep the compound only to come back and met the baby with foams gushing out from her mouth. Ogundare alerted neighbours to the incident having found a bottle containing pesticide with her husband.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday [Jul 28] approved the appointment of Brig.-Gen. P.T. Boroh (retd.) as the Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme for former Niger Delta militants.

The appointment was contained in a statement made available to journalists by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina.

A scorned partner has been warned not to mention her ex or his new girlfriend online or face five years in jail. Maureen Curoe, of Belfast, was handed a two-year restraining order because of messages written about Adrian McAleese and Yvonne Hegarty since they split up three years ago.

Curoe, 40, appearing at at Coleraine Magistrates Court yesterday, was was told by judge Liam McNally: 'It is now time for these messages to stop'. He imposed a restraining order stopping her or anyone she knows posting messages about Mr McAleese or Ms Hegarty on social media so all three parties could get on with their lives. But the judge did throw out charges that Curoe had sent 'menacing' messages on Facebook, saying although she sent them he did not consider them threatening.

Bobbi Kristina Brown's Death Is Now A Homicide Investigation, Cops Confirm


After Bobbi Kristina Brown autopsy was completed on Monday [Jul 27] officials said there were no "obvious underlying cause of death and no significant injuries were noted".

In a statement the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office said: "The initial portion of the autopsy has been completed. "The autopsy does not show an obvious underlying cause of death and no significant injuries were noted.

Doctors treating Michael Jackson's father for his recent stroke are waiting to see if he has been left permanently blind. Joe Jackson was celebrating his 87th birthday in Brazil on Sunday when he woke up disorientated and with no vision.
The talent manager, who guided Michael and his four brothers to global stardom, was taken to the Albert Einstein hospital.
