GRUESOME MURDER: Masquerades Kill Ex-Police Chief In Akwa Ibom; On His Way To Church

Violence erupted yesterday [Apr. 17] in Obioakpa Village, Oruk Anam LGA of Akwa Ibom State, following the gruesome murder of one Mr Attah Johnson Udom by masquerades, popularly referred to as ekpo.

Udom, a retired chief superintendent of police (CSP), was killed in the early hours of yesterday on his way to church for early morning prayers.

Anxious parents of some of the girls abducted from the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, have headed for the forest in a desperate search for their daughters.

More than 100 schoolgirls were taken away from their hostels by suspected Boko Haram insurgents on Monday [Apr. 14] night.

SCHOOLGIRLS ABDUCTION: We Were Given Wrong Information, We Were Misled - Says Nigerian Military

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) admitted yesterday [Apr. 17] that troops were still looking for the majority of the girls abducted by Boko Haram at the Government Girls’ Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.

About 99 out of the 129 school girls have not been found as at last night. The government of Borno State said it had 30 students, contrary to DHQ’s earlier position that troops had rescued 80.

ABUJA BOMB BLAST: Govt Releases Names, Details Of Injured Victims

Federal government on Thursday [Apr. 17] released a list of 126 victims admitted in various hospitals after the bomb explosion in Nyanya, Abuja, on Monday morning.

At least 75 people were killed in an explosion that rocked a populous motor park in Nyanya, a suburb of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city. The explosion is believed to have been carried out by the Boko Haram terrorist group.

Ogun State Police Command has arrested a middle aged man, for raping a woman and beheading her two year old boy in Ofada town in Obafemi/Owode LGAea of the State.

The suspect, identified as Mamodu Bashir Ibrahim, allegedly committed the crime after he had a carnal knowledge of the mother of the boy, while she detoured to ease herself in a bush in the town. The suspect reportedly trailed the woman into the bush, pounced on her, despite the baby being tied to her back and dragged both into an uncompleted building.

There is controversy over the rescue of abducted school girls in Borno with the state government and the school principal faulting the military’s claim that most of the pupils have been freed.

The claim by military officials in Abuja on Wednesday [Apr. 16] that 107 abducted girls of Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Chibok were freed is a huge lie, Borno government officials, the management of the school and residents have said.

ABUJA BOMB BLAST: Nigeria Police Now Have Links To Arrest “Nyanya Terrorists” — Says Police Boss

Two days after the Nyanya Motor Park bombing by suspected terrorists, which claimed over 100 lives, Nigeria Police have said they now have links that will possibly lead to the arrest of the perpetrators of the crime.

Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 7, Suleiman Abba, who made the disclosure in a briefing, noted however that no arrest has yet been made, saying “but I assure the public that with the links we have, investigation will lead us to the culprits and they will be arrested”.
