A young man took his own life after leaving a heartbreaking final Facebook note to his ex-girlfriend telling her where her Christmas presents were. Kieran Lister posted the message on December 12 saying ‘I don’t know what to do anymore’ adding that it wasn’t her fault.

The 20-year-old also tells her what items of his will make money if she sells them. He starts to end the post by telling people he is sorry for letting them down before begging for Facebook to not remove his post in hope it will be an ‘eye opener to the people that are looking for happiness’.

Sarah, a cousin of Kieran’s, posted ‘I just want to put it out there that yes Kieran Lister was my cousin and I’m sure at time like this that all his family and friends want is some privacy.

Another user, going by the name of Lou, said: ‘If you have a mental illness the littlest things are the biggest things, I suffer with depression, and personality disorder I have tried to kill myself but end up in hospital in a bad way I’ve bin mental hospitals, that doesn’t make me a selfish person because I’m ill and I don’t no how to deal with situations that others can deal with, so for all you p****s out there saying this poor young man is selfish, sit on it because you will never now how it feels unless you’ve bin threw it (sic).’

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: ‘At 7.42pm on Monday, December 12, police received a call expressing concerns for the welfare of a 20-year-old man who had gone missing from his home in Churwell and had last been seen earlier in the day.

‘Enquiries were carried out and searches conducted and the man was found dead in the Cottingley area at about 1.40am on Tuesday. The death is not being treated as suspicious and the Coroner’s Office has been informed.’
