Jungle Justice
Earlier today [16 Nov], images of a young boy said to be about 7-year-old who was served jungle justice for allegedly attempting to steal garri (cassave flakes) from a trader’s shop went viral.

He was severely beaten by a mob and later burnt to death.

The location of the incident was unknown, but according to Information Nigeria, the horrific event took in the Badagry area of Lagos State. However, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Complaint Response Unit (CRU), Mr Abayomi Shogunle, has asked Nigerians who could help with the exact location of the incident to come forward. He said this in a tweet:
Though there have been conflicting reports especially concerning the age of the victim or what he actually stole, eyewitnesses say he was caught while trying to break into a shop where food stuff are sold in the early hours of Tuesday, November 15, 2015.

The suspect, it was gathered, was nabbed by some men in the area who descended on him and beat him to a pulp before hanging a tire on his neck and setting him on fire, despite pleas by many to hand him over to the police since he had not actually committed the crime.

This is not the first time suspects have been lynched to death in the most gruesome of manners with the crowd often not wanting to know what offense they committed before killing them.

Nigerians took to Twitter to react to the dastardly act.

Nigerian Police later provided an update:

An eyewitness account below claimed the victim was an adult and not a child as being peddled online:

Another Nigerian who was familiar with the location of the incident and lost his brother to the notorious thieves gang on the same spot has this to say:
