18-month-year-old MilliAnna was born with Cruella De Vil-eqsque white streak in her hair, as was her mum, her grandma and her great-grandma.
Mum Brianna Worthy, 23, from South Carolina, says that they’re unsure exactly how far the birthmark goes back as her grandmother was adopted as a child and never met her biological family. Known as poliosis, the front patch of their hair and areas around the skin don’t have any pigment – causing the amazing bleached effect.
‘My younger sister, who my mother had a few years after me, didn’t get it – so I didn’t know if MilliAnna was going to but, once I had her and they laid her on my chest and I saw she had it, I was so happy.’
But Brianna does admit that having such a distinctive mark can have its downsides. Brianna, who had to put up with being called ‘skunk’ at school, hopes that her daughter will embrace her hair as she gets older, rather than dying it.
