A male passenger was escorted off a flight and handed over to airport police after he allegedly stripped-off mid-flight and harassed the air hostesses. The unruly man, who has not been identified, was travelling with IndiGo airlines from Bhubaneswar to Delhi, India, according to the carrier.
He was said to have been found in an 'objectionable state' in the lavatory by female crew members and later made derogatory comments. The incident took place on flight 6E-256 last month according to the Times of India but was recently revealed in a statement issued by the airline.
According to the statement, the passenger initially told the crew that he did not know how to tie his seat belt, which the staff were able to assist him with. Later, the man 'went to the lavatory where he pressed the lavatory call bell requesting assistance in the aircraft lavatory'.
However, when the crew went to assist him, the passenger was described as being in an 'objectionable state'. The statement continued: 'The female crew member refused to go inside and politely requested him to maintain some level of decency while using the lavatory.' After exiting from the bathroom, the man allegedly made 'derogatory remarks to the female crew member' according to the statement.
Once the plane landed, the passenger was escorted from the flight and handed over to the police and an official flight incident report was lodged with a local police station.
It's not known whether the man has been charged over the incident.
