A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a banker was ‘killed by a single punch’ on a night out. Oliver Dearlove, aged 30, had been out to a microbrewery with university friends on Saturday night and was waiting for a taxi home when he was attacked, it was reported.
The suspect allegedly approached their group in Blackheath, south-east London, first attacking one of Mr Dearlove’s friends then striking the fatal blow at 12.45am on Sunday morning.
Mr Dearlove was taken to hospital by air ambulance but did not survive his injuries. Police said a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and of actual bodily harm on Thursday morning.

Mr Dearlove, from Eltham, had been in a bar with friends in Montpelier Vale earlier in the night before heading to Tranquil Vale, where they are believed to have started speaking to a group of women.
He had worked as a relationship manager at Duncan Lawrie Private Bank.
A post-mortem examination gave the provisional cause of his death as a head injury. Detective Chief Inspector Lee Watling said: ‘Our investigation is continuing and we’ve made huge progress in identifying key witnesses and recovering vital CCTV.
