Leicester City star Jamie Vardy has revealed why he turned down a move to Arsenal this summer. In his autobiography, which is being serialised in The Sun, the 29-year-old blames the Gunners’ tactics and his desire to build on the Foxes’ accomplishments.
At the time, the England international was coming off the back of winning the top flight with the Midlands club, and he is now playing in their first ever Champions League campaign. ‘With people like Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil creating chances, Arsenal felt they could benefit me as much as I could them,’ writes the striker.

‘But I also thought about the tactical aspect'. ‘You look at Arsenal’s style of play and they don’t get the ball forward quickly in the same way Leicester do for those runs I like to make in behind the defence.’
He added: ‘It wasn’t to do with ‘loyalty’ or how I feel about my team-mates. Players always come and go.
‘It was more a case of seeing Leicester as a club that wanted to build on what we achieved with the title and I want to be part of that. ‘I’m happy with how everything has turned out.’
Vardy has scored twice in six Premier League games this season, with Leicester so far unable to match their incredible feats of the last campaign.
