The police in Lagos have arrested a man, Uchenna Elemadu for alleged sexual assault on his teenage daughter. Elemadu, a resident of Martins Street New Oko Oba in Agege, was arrested after his wife allegedly caught him raping his daughter.
It was gathered that the suspect has serially raped the 15-year-old victim whom he allegedly forced to take pills to prevent pregnancy.
Spokesperson for the police command, Dolapo Badmos, a Superintendent (SP), said the case was being handled by the Gender Unit. She said: “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, trader, had at different occasions raped his daughter after which he administered drugs to prevent her from getting pregnant.
“The victim, a JSS 3 student while narrating her ordeal to the police stated that the father on countless occasions wakes her up in the middle of the night to rape her, mostly when the mother is on duty. “The mother, who is a casual worker in one of the outfits attached to the airport, on the night of September 19, discovered the suspect having intercourse with the victim, an occurrence that made her raise alarm.
“The victim is currently admitted in the Police College where she is receiving treatment in partnership with Mirabel Centre, LASUTH where medical examination will be carried out.
“Commissioner of Police Fatai Owoseni has directed that the father, who admitted the rape on three occasions blaming the act on the devil, be charged to court.”
