A Nigerian man was arrested by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Marikina City Tuesday [Jul 12] night. Police identified the suspect as Ejike Okoye, alias Martin. He was caught in a buy-bust operation of PDEA NCR around 10 pm in a resto bar.
300 grams of illegal drug worth P360,000 was recovered from the suspect, who vehemently denied having anything to do with the drugs. Ejike said it was a set up against him.
But according to PDEA, Martin belongs to a West African Drug Syndicate, a large group of drug traffickers in the country. He has already been charged for violation Section 5 of the Republic Act 9165 for the selling illegal drugs.
In the Philippines, convicted drug traffickers are sentenced to death. You may be presumed to be a drug trafficker if you have more than a third of an ounce of a drug in your possession.
