Oscar Pistorius could compete in the 2020 Olympics just four years after he was sentenced for the murder of Reeva Steenkamp, a South African sports official has said.
Tubby Reddy, CEO of South Africa’s Sports Confederation and Olympics Committee, said he had ‘no problem’ with the idea as the killer would have ‘paid his debt’ to society.
Pistorius was jailed for six years for the murder of his girlfriend but may serve just one more year in prison, enabling him to train and qualify for the Tokyo games.

Mr Reddy told the MailOnline there was ‘no rule’ that said he couldn’t participate. He added: ‘Yes, the sentence he has been given has divided opinion – there are those who are happy about it and there are those who are unhappy, and you will always have that.
‘But if he is out on parole, as it seems he will be before then, and qualifies for selection then I don’t see how there can be a problem – why not?
‘He would have to train and get his mental strength back, but those are challenges he would have to set for himself.’
