Nigeria's DJ Obi Sets World Record For The Longest DJ Set

The Syndik8 Records’ official disc jockey, Obi Ajuonuma (DJ Obi) has put Nigeria on the world map by breaking the Guinness World Record for the Longest Marathon Club DJing.

DJ Obi on Friday [July 01] morning at Sao Café, Lekki, Lagos, broke 200-hour record set by Polish DJ, Norbert Selmaj, also known as Norberto Loco at The Underground Temple Bar in Dublin, Ireland on November 27, 2014.

DJ Obi’s, the son of late Levi Ajuonuma, a former Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), began his ten-day set on June 22nd which will run till 11:30 pm on July 2nd, 2016, when he would have completed a total of 240 hours target he set for himself.

While his achievement may not attract financial reward, he would, however, be recognised by Guinness Books of World Record.

While on set, the DJ was allowed to take a 20-minute break every four hours or one hour break after 12 hours. He was also allowed daily medical checks, massages and consumption of doses of vitamins to keep him going despite his lack of sleep.
