|Like father, like son: Ashley Cole, 35, was clearly besotted with his baby boy after being pictured lying beside him wearing matching tops|
Ashley Cole became a father for the first time on Sunday. The 35-year-old LA Galaxy defender is clearly besotted with his baby boy after being pictured lying beside him wearing matching tops. He had the word KING printed above the number three, his number for the MLS side, on the back of a white t-shirt.
His son had the word PRINCE on his top, again above the number 3.The proud dad and his bundle of joy, who has a full head of hair, both appeared to be catching 40 winks lying on their front with Ashley's arm gently resting across his son's back.
Cole's Italian girlfriend Sharon Canu gave birth to the couple's son in Rome on Sunday.
The footballer missed LA Galaxy's CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal second leg with Santos Laguna because of the birth, but he will be available for selection for Sunday's MLS season opener against D.C. United after jetting back to LA on Wednesday.
A close friend told The Sun: 'It’s a beautiful picture and shows Ashley in a different light. 'Everyone has a past but this is now his future. Everyone hopes he will be the fantastic father we all know he can be.' The sports star - who was famously married to Cheryl Fernandez-Versini - was said to be 'over the moon' in the build up to the birth and was especially delighted his first child is a boy.
The Italian model was first spotted out clubbing with the former Chelsea player back in June. Sharon is thought to be a very 'sweet' and down-to-earth girl who hails from a good Italian family.
