A man, Friday James, has been sentenced to death by hanging for armed robbery.
James was accused of robbing one Olanrewaju Jumoke of her jewelleries worth N100, 000 on February 17, 2012 around 3:00 a.m. at Ewegbemi Street, Meiran. He also inflicted injuries on the head and hand of the husband of the victim through the use of matchete and gun.
The offence, according to the Police is contrary to Section 297 Criminal law of Lagos State 2011, and Section 295 subsection 2(a).
Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye of an Ikeja High Court found him guilty on the two count charge and sentenced him to death by hanging.
It would be recalled that the same court on February 17, 2016 sentenced two young men, Omoilodan Seun and Gbenga Kayode to death by hanging for attempted robbery and armed robbery.
