Louis van Gaal has been sacked by Manchester United according to Trevor Sinclair. Sinclair's claims come after a rush of tweets suggested Van Gaal had been sacked by Manchester United.

Ed Woordward, United's chief executive, was in London today [Dec. 22] for a crunch meeting over Van Gaal's future.

Express Sport understands Mourinho is waiting in the wings if the move to bin Van Gaal is made.

However it is more likely that Ryan Giggs will take over in the short term if Van Gaal is sacked before the Stoke game.
Van Gaal has overseen six games without a win at United and saw them knocked out of the Champions League after the group stage.

This morning United refused to deny reports that Mourinho had agreed a five-year deal to take over at United. And Sinclair, who works as a pundit for the BBC, has tweeted that Van Gaal has been sacked and Mourinho is poised to take over.

United face Stoke on Boxing Day before taking Mourinho's former club Chelsea on December 28.
