A 27-year-old man has been arraigned before an Abuja Grade 1 Area Court for allegedly abandoning a poultry farm, an action that led to the theft of 160 chicken valued at N240,000.
Nasiru Ibrahim of Arab Road, Kubwa, was charged with negligence, an offence that contradicts Section 196 of the Penal Code.
The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that the complainant, Ajoye Amina of Phase 4, Kubwa, on December 8, reported at the Kubwa police station, that the accused, whom she engaged as a security guard to secure her poultry farm containing 1,200 broilers, abandoned the farm and 160 birds valued at N240,000 were stolen.
When the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty and was granted bail by the judge, Mohammed Marafa.
The case was adjourned to February 23.
