The 30-year-old took to Twitter to tell his fans that Asta Diakite, a female cousin of his, died in Paris attacks.
On Friday, Diarra, a Paris native, started France's international friendly against Germany, which was targeted by terrorists.
According to Joshua Robinson and Inti Landauro of the Wall Street Journal, a man tried to enter the stadium wearing a vest of explosives, and two explosions could be heard from inside the stadium during the first half.
Diarra's team-mate Antoine Griezmann previously said his sister had been caught up in the violence but was safe, per Aaron Flanagan of the Daily Mirror.
