VIDEO: This Little Girl Was Born With Her Heart Outside Her Chest

via Metro, UK:

Virsaviya ‘Bathsheba’ Borun-Goncharova has been beating the odds before she was born. When she was pregnant, her mother Dari was told her child would never survive, however six-years later her bright and beautiful daughter is still fighting on.

In fact, it’s fair to say that the she’s quite the little warrior. Virsaviya suffers from a condition called Pentalogy of Cantrell, a rare congenital disorder which effects less than one in a million births. Symptoms and severity of the disorder vary greatly, but in Virsaviya’s case it means that both her heart and intestines are outside of her chest and abdomen.

In fact, Virsaviya’s heart can clearly be seen beating as there’s only a thin layer of flesh covering it. But despite the severity of her illness, little Virsaviya hasn’t let it get her down. According to a crowdfunding page set up to help fund her treatment, she loves ponies and dolphins, drawing, singing, dancing, and Beyonce (sounds like our kinda kid).

Although her outlook is positive, the little girl – originally from Russia – urgently needs help, which is why she and her mother recently moved to America.

The pair – who are currently living in Florida – originally moved to Boston after a doctor at Boston’s Children’s Hospital said they were willing to help, however they’ve since been told that Virsaviya can’t undergo surgery for at least two years due to high blood pressure.

And despite her illness, the hospital visits and all the set backs, Virsaviya is pretty philosophical about the whole thing. She told NBC News: ‘I know why I have heart outside, because Jesus want to show that he can make special things like me.’

What a little hero.
