A
30-year-old conductor has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by an Abuja
Grade 1 Area Court for snatching a handbag from a woman in Kubwa, Bwari Area
Council of the FCT.

Abubakar of Phase 3 junction, Kubwa, was convicted for theft, an offense
contrary to section 287 of the Penal Code.
The
police prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun had told the court that the complainant,
Zainab Shuaibu of Phase 3, on September 7, reported at the Kubwa police station
that the accused, on same date, acted in a dubious manner and snatched her
handbag.
He
said the bag contained make-up materials valued at N26,000, a Blackberry phone
valued at N70,000, Nokia phone valued at N25,000, gold jeweries valued at
N110,000, power bank valued at N7,000, cash sum of N36,000 and other items
without her consent.
According
to the prosecutor, the said the items were recovered from the accused during
police investigation.
When
the charge was read to the accused, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six
months imprisonment by the judge, Mohammed Marafa, with an option of N20,000
fine.
