Arsenal fans were dealt a major blow as reports broke on Tuesday that Jack Wilshere is set for surgery in the next few days. The midfielder is booked in for surgery as early as Thursday, according to the Telegraph, and will require a metal plate after a being diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his left leg.
The club confirmed Wilshere will be out of action for at least three months to the dismay of many Arsenal fans.
Wilshere has endured numerous setbacks since breaking into Wenger’s first-team in 2008 and Gooners are now comparing the 23-year-old to ex-Gunner Abou Diaby.
Diaby, 29, suffered over 40 injuries while playing for Arsenal before being released and signing for Marseille in the summer.
Here’s how Gooners reacted to breaking reports of Wilshere’s latest setback…

I've always believed in Wilshere but his injury record is getting towards the level of Diaby, it's ridiculous.— J (@49ShadesOfAFC) September 15, 2015
Jack Wilshere was Diaby's understudy in the training room, now Diaby has left, Jack is the best guy for Diaby's role.— Sex Fàbregas (@Nigerianscamsss) September 15, 2015
