A police officer has been killed in an attack on 1st avenue in Festac town, Lagos over the weekend, Per Second News has reported.
The officer was stabbed to death by an okada (bike) rider following an argument over payment of money at A Police checkpoint around 21 road.
Per Second News gathered that the deceased, Corporal Emmanuel was overpowered by the commercial bike rider and stabbed to death. The bike rider who hails from the Michika area of Adamawa state also ran away with the official rifle of the police officer.
According to eye witness account the deceased in a bid to stop the bike man damaged the tyres of the bike, the policeman’s action infuriated the bike rider – he consequently attacked the police officer with a knife.
Per Second News learnt from an officer from the Festac Police Division that "Corporal Emmanuel died at the spot. Forensic teams are currently combing the scene, the officer said.
