Nigeria Police Arrest 3 Policemen Over Breach Of Public Peace In Lagos

Three policemen are currently being detained at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja, Lagos over breach of peace. The policemen whose identities could not be ascertained by Daily Trust as at press time are currently facing orderly room trial at the command headquarters.

Daily Trust learnt that while one of the policemen was arrested at Iyana Iba area of Ojo for allegedly shooting at a passer-by while in pursuit of a fleeing commercial bus driver, the other two were arrested for allegedly assaulting officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA).

A police source told Daily Trust that the policeman who allegedly shot the passer-by at Iyana Iba was arrested on Wednesday [Aug 5] by a team of detectives.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Pat Amadin who confirmed the development, said the three policemen were arrested by detectives from Area E Command, FESTAC Town.

She said: “The police command on Wednesday averted what would have been a major civil disturbance at Iyana Iba bus stop through the timely intervention of the Area Commander in charge of the axis”.
