GAY MATTER!!! A Nigerien and Nigerian Bag 6 Months Imprisonment For Homosexual Act

A magistrate court in Minna, Niger State has sentenced a Nigerien, Mohammed Kabir and a Nigerian Abubakar Shehu to six months imprisonment each for attempting to commit homosexuality which it described as unnatural act of gross indecency.

Malam Kabir of Tawa State in Niger Republic and Shehu of Texaco road, Maitumbi, Minna, according to the prosecuting police officer, Corporal Hussaini Hassan attempted to have carnal knowledge of each other on August 13 at about 11pm around Maitumbi area of Minna town against the order of nature.

Hussaini averred that Kabir was seen romancing Shehu and both were in the process of committing the actual act before they were caught. The offence, according to Corporal Hussaini was contrary to section 95 and 285 of the penal code.

The two accused persons pleaded guilty to the offence.

The prosecuting police officer urged the court to sentence them according to section 157 of the criminal procedure code. The presiding magistrate, Hon Abdulrahaman Idris therefore sentenced the two accused person to six months imprisonment each accordingly.

  1. What this government is doing is so wrong!!! It's against the basic human rights. Any reasonable person nowadays knows that homosexuality is not "against the nature". And, just to summarise, "unnatural act of gross indecency" is this discriminatory undemocratic law.
