PHOTOS: Tears As President Buhari, Wife, Mrs Aisha Buhari and Mrs Osinbajo Meet Mothers Of The 'Stolen' Chibok Girls

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday [Jun 12], met with two women from Chibok, Borno State, whose daughters are among those still being held in captivity by Boko Haram terrorists. It was all tears as they emerged from the meeting in his office at Defence House, Abuja, led by the wife of the president, Hajia Aisha Buhari and wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo.

Speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting, Mrs. Osinbajo said the president's meeting with the mothers of the abducted girls was full of emotions as most people present betrayed emotions. Osinbajo revealed that the wife of the president had wanted to visit the town but had been unable to do so.

"Hajia Aisha Buhari had, for many months, wanted to visit Chibok. She also wanted to meet with the mothers. Today, we had an opportunity for them to meet face to face. "We had two of the mothers who still have their daughters missing after a year.

"Hajia, being a mother, met with them, held them and they cried, everybody cried. What only a mother will do is to say wait, I want you to see your father and see what your father will do”. "We were all extremely overwhelmed that at this time when the President is so busy, he had time to meet with the women from Chibok”.

"He spoke to them in English and Hausa. He explained to them how he keeps telling everybody to put themselves in their place. So, today, we have had the opportunity for the President and Hajia to show that they are our father and mother. For that, we are glad."

I AM A SECONDARY VICTIM OF BOKO HARAM Some Nigerians were of the opinion that I might just discontinue my personalized #BringBackOurGirls Campaign moment Muhammadu Buhari is sworn-in as President. I kept getting questions especially when the tenure of former President Jonathan was winding down, ‘Are you sure you continue with this campaign after May 29?’, ‘Let’s see who you would be asking to Bring Back Your Girls after May 29?’. These insensitive people have forgotten that their leader, Jonathan after he came to terms with the reality that indeed 276 girls were stolen from their school hostel in Chibok, set up a Presidential Fact Finding Committee headed by Mr. Ibrahin Mr. Sabo, a retired Brig Gen, to look into the Chibok abduction. While Sabo was submitting his report in June 2014, he disclosed that ‘a total of 276 girls were abducted by members of the Boko Haram Sect, 57 of the girls escaped while 219 were still unaccounted for’ - sadly till today [May 30]. For every one who was wondering if I am discontinuing the campaign because it was targeted at former President Jonathan – I have a message you - I AM A SECONDARY VICTIM OF BOKO HARAM. I believe in the saying that – An injustice done to one is an injustice to all. For One year and still counting, each day that I sat down to prepare my daily placards, each day that I stood in front of the camera – I AM TRAUMATISED, I AM PSYCHOLOGICALLY UPSET. Like I told CNN during the One Year anniversary, ‘Yesterday it was Chibok, Today was another town in the North, Tomorrow it could be my village’, Government is a continuum. President Buhari has now accepted the new challenge of rescuing the #ChibokGirls. It is important that Nigerians jettison the ‘I don’t Care’ attitude such as ‘whatever happens in the North stays in the North, or whatever happens in the East stays in the East, what happens in the South, stays in the South and whatever happens in the West, stays in the West. This is a great nation in which any injustice done to any Nigerian regardless of his/her tribe and religion should be an injustice done to all. 'If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have taken the side on an oppressor'. πŸ‘£πŸ‘£πŸ‘£
