PHOTOS: Michelle Obama Lands In Britain With Sasha And Malia For Meeting With Prince Harry And Tea Party At No.10

US First Lady Michelle Obama landed in Britain last night for a two-day trip to promote education for girls. Mrs Obama was greeted by US military families as she stepped off the plane at London Stansted Airport, followed by her mother and two daughters.

The 51-year-old president's wife is visiting Britain to discuss her campaigns for girls' education and better support for military families. Today Mrs Obama is due to meet Prince Harry and have tea at Downing Street with Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife Samantha.

The Obama family is on a week-long tour of Britain and Italy to promote Mrs Obama's Let Girls Learn initiative. This morning [Jun 16] Mrs Obama and her two daughters Sasha and Malia will visit at Mulberry School for Girls in Tower Hamlets, east London. They are joined on the trip by Mrs Obama's mother Marian Robinson, 77.

Mrs Obama will host a discussion with the director of the Research for Equitable Access and Learning Centre at Cambridge University and a Peace Corps volunteer. Julia Gillard, former prime minister of Australia and a strong advocate for girls’ education, is also expected to join after for a Q&A session.

The Let Girls Learn initiative has been championed by Mrs Obama and her husband, US president Barack Obama. Later, the Obamas will meet Prince Harry two years after he attended a Mother's Day tea for military mothers with the First Lady in the US. Mrs Obama's chief of staff Tina Tchen said: 'He was wonderful and it was wonderful to have him here.
