The 14-year-old was arrested after fleeing the school
where a science teacher was stabbed this morning
Sickened pupils watched in horror as 50-year-old Nigerian-born teacher Vincent Uzomah was stabbed at their school before desperately trying to stem the blood pouring from his stomach. He stumbled from the classroom and collapsed in a corridor as the boy who knifed him fled.
A Year 8 pupil said: “The teacher was kind of hunched over, bleeding and slumped on the floor.” The witness was in the neighbouring classroom when Vincent, 50, was stabbed – apparently during a row over a confiscated phone.
Talking with permission of her dad, the girl added: “Our classroom door was open. I looked up and saw a boy run down the corridor, then the teacher holding his stomach. A video has emerged of a 14-year-old boy being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
As the lad is collared by the swarm of officers, the phone footage shows another youth saying: “What are you doing to my boy?” Science teacher Vincent, who is a married dad-of-two, was attacked with the kitchen knife at 8.50am, just minutes into the first lesson of the day at Dixon Kings Academy in Bradford.
A source described the wound as “nasty and deep”.
Dismayed teachers dialled 999 and paramedics, whose HQ is just next door, arrived minutes later. Police searched the grounds and a helicopter scoured the area before the arrest around seven hours later in Centenary Square in the city centre.
A 15-year-old pupil said: “I heard he stabbed the teacher because he took his phone off him.” After the arrest, a police spokesman said outside the school that pupils had witnessed “something horrendous”. He added: “The male teacher aged 50 suffered a single stab wound and was taken to a hospital.
“His injuries are not thought to be life threatening. His family are with him at his bedside.”

Vincent had been working at the academy for just four weeks. He has also been an extra on Corrie. A spokesman for talent agency Seven Casting said he had been on its books for two years, adding he is a “bubbly, lovely guy”.
