General Theophilus Danjuma (rtd) yesterday [May 23] called on the incoming government of Muhammadu Buhari to probe the outgoing administration of President Goodluck Jonathan to ascertain the exact state of the economy and those behind the country’s economic woes.
Danjuma made the call in Takum, Taraba state while commissioning and handing over the N500 million bridges he constructed along Takum -Katsina-Ala federal high way to the Taraba State Government for onward handover to the Federal Government.
The retired general, who expressed worry that the incoming government of Buhari will have to contend with a huge debt of over $60 billion without anything on ground to show for, called on Buhari to in the interest of the nation investigate the outgoing administration so that Nigerians would know what exactly happened.
He explained that he chose to steer clear of partisan politics because, all the political parties in the country are the same, but that he support anyone who comes to him with money based on what he makes of the person irrespective of political affiliations, adding that the gross mismanagement of the economy by the outgoing administration call for concern by all well-meaning Nigerians.
On what inspired him to undertake the project, Danjuma said, the plight of his people and the number of deaths and permanent disabilities caused by the poor state of the bridges constructed by the colonial masters made him to embark on the project and called on the federal government to award contract for the construction of the road.
Minister of Works, Mike Onolememen represented by a Director in the ministry, Engr. M. R. Muhammad thanked the retired general for his generosity, and urged well to do Nigerians to emulate himl for the progress of the country.
