Police Recover N42.2Million Ransom From Fleeing Kidnappers

Niger State police command has recovered the sum of N42.2 million from fleeing suspected kidnappers in Kontagora local government area of the state. The command’s spokesman, ASP Bala Elkana, made this known yesterday [May 22] while briefing newsmen, adding that the money was recovered last month.

The suspects fled the area on motorcycles and in the process abandoned the money which was alleged to be ransom money collected from the families of their victims from neighbouring states of Kebbi, Zamfara and Sokoto.

“The sum of N42, 244, 000.00 was recovered in Kontagora on the 10th of April, 2015. The money was abandoned by suspected Kidnappers riding on a bike. It is of note that four cases of kidnapping occurred in the neighbouring state of Kebbi, two cases in Zamfara and a case in Sokoto,” Elkana said.

He said the case had been transferred to Federal Special Anti- Robbery Squad of the Force Criminals Intelligent and Investigations Department (FCIID) Abuja for discreet investigation.
