The Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation in Lagos Monday [Mar. 16] morning led others protesters to storm the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, demanding the sacking of the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, before the March 28 elections.

The bus of the campaign group led the protesters, who were chanting anti-Jega songs and bearing different placards, from the Gbagada end of the expressway towards the defunct Tollgate area.

Heavy traffic built up along the highway as the protesters, who were well protected by heavy police presence, took over one part of the road, grounding movement of other road users.

OPC members reportedly took to the streets clamouring for the sack for INEC Chairman, Prof Jega. they were sighted at on Ikorodu road, Abati Barracks heading towards Ojuelegba and their supposed final destination is NATIONAL STADIUM…They were seen protesting on Ikorodu road chanting anti-Jega songs…

The Monday rally was against the continued stay in office of the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega.

OPC’s national coordinator, Chief Gani Adams while speaking on the planned protest in Lagos, last week told Nigerian Tribune that financiers of the demonstration are supporters of the re-election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Chief Adams, while confirming the participation of his group in the planned protest, pointed out that it is not being organised solely by his group but by a coalition of concerned Nigerians who have no confidence in Jega continuing as the chairman of INEC.
