Authorities in Niger Republic have given an account of the ongoing offensive against the Boko Haram fighters, disclosing that 513 insurgents were killed during the recent confrontation in Bosso town.
Spokesperson of the Nigerien defence ministry, Malam Adali Toro, said out of the number, 292 bodies have been buried in Bosso while 13 were buried in Karanga town, the VOA Hausa reported yesterday.
He said Nigerien troops have captured 347 members of the sect in Bosso, with 137 of them being detained in different prisons, and over 300 in the hands of an anti-terrorism agency in the capital city.
The spokesperson explained that on the fight between government troops and Boko Haram that took place on 8 March, 24 Nigerien troops were killed, 38 injured, while 1 civilian lost his life.
