The police, yesterday [Mar. 19], charged a businessman, Nnamdi Unagbu, 36, before a Tinubu Magistrate’s Court for allegedly inflicting wound on the breast of a woman. The defendant is facing a-count charge of assault filed against him.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Koti Aoudohemba, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on March 9, adding that the incident occurred at Ebudola Market Balogun in Lagos Island.
Aoudohemba said the disagreement between both parties arose from the dirt which the defendant accused the victim of dumping in front of his shop. He said this resulted in a fight between them, during which the defendant used a stick with nails to beat Eboh, which caused the wound on her hand and breast.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge and Magistrate Salam Matepo granted him bail in the sum of N10,000, with two sureties in like sum. The matter was adjourned till April 1 for mention.
