The African Democratic Congress yesterday [Mar. 23] urged their presidential and vice presidential candidates to step down for President Goodluck Jonathan and Architect Namadi Sambo of the PDP.
National Chairman of the party, Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu, who made the call in Abuja, refuted media reports that they had pledged allegiance to the APC. He said the party resolved in their last national executive council meeting to send a bill to the National Assembly to make any Nigerian, military or civilian, who participates in a coup or engages in acts capable of truncating a democratic government in Nigeria, ineligible to stand for election or hold public office.
Nwosu said the party would mobilize its supporters to vote for President Jonathan and advised him to build a large coalition that is all inclusive after his victory.
