The
rumoured split between a master and his protege; Banky W and Wizkid
respectively, seems to many like a film trick. What Aproko247 can confidently
and authoritatively tell you for free is that there is more than meet the eyes
to the matter.
What a
source in the camp of Banky W reliably informed us is that Banky W is presently
running helter-skelter trying to manage the rumour from getting out of hands
like the case of Mohits Records.
“Banky [W]‘s mind is presently not at rest
at the moment. If you call him now on this issue, he might not answer you
because he doesn’t know what to do anymore. Wizkid’s mum has also tried to talk
sense to her son but it seems the guy (Wizkid) is bent on moving on with his
life,” the source told Aproko247.
Asked what
actually caused the problem between them, the source, in an effort to be
economical with the truth, disclosed that “you
know Wizkid is the backbone of EME music label. The boy (Wizkid) feels that
Banky W has been milking too much from him with the large chunk of what Banky W
takes from what the boy makes.”
Our source
added, “Wizkid has asked for an improved
contract because the present one allocates much of Wizkid’s earnings to Banky
W. You know when you are coming up, you sign any kind of deal because you just
want to climb stardom. That is the situation the boy finds himself but Banky
felt hurt that Wizkid could ask for an improved offer after what he (Banky W)
has done for him.
“This was the beginning of the problem
between them. The boy even threatened to leave the label sometimes ago but
Banky W felt it was a joke. He took it with a pinch of salt. Now, he is at a
crossroad and confused on what to do now,” the source revealed to Aproko247.
As at last
night, Wizkid has removed his former EME artiste status from his twitter
profile. With the heat getting hotter, the next few days is certainly not going
to be easy with other label artistes until the true picture is unveiled by
either ‘warring’ parties.
