Piers Morgan is facing the wrath of
God-fearing Americans after calling for an 'amendment'
to the Bible to allow gay marriage.
The former
British newspaper editor compared the Bible to the US constitution while
interviewing celebrity pastor Rick
Warren on his CNN chat show.
Suggesting
Christians should change the word of God to fit with public opinion on same-sex
marriage laws, Morgan said: 'Both the Bible and the Constitution were
well intentioned but they are basically, inherently flawed. Hence, the need to
amend it’.
However,
anti-gay marriage campaigner Warren
was not buying it and flatly replied there was 'not a chance'. 'What
I believe is flawed is human opinion, because it constantly changes', Warren argued.
While the pair
agreed to disagree, many right-wing viewers are sure to be enraged by Morgan's comments.
Last week, Morgan sparked outrage after slamming
America's gun laws in the wake of the Sandy Hook school shootings.
More than
80,000 people have now signed a petition calling on the US government to deport
the brazen Brit back across the pond for attacking America's second amendment.
Ironically, a
counter petition by Britain's Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson is calling for Morgan
not to be deported.
