Samson Siasia Begs Black Stars of Ghana…Have Pity On Us

Nigeria national football team coach Samson Siasia has launched a verbal attack on the Ghanaian football body and its fans. Siasia who will be facing the Black stars of Ghana on Tuesday, 11 October 2011 is angry that Ghanaians are calling on the Black stars to beat Nigeria after the Super Eagle’s disappointing 2-2 draw with Guinea that knocked them out of next year’s African cup of Nations.

Speaking to DWFA.com, the visibly upset Siasia expressed his angered towards Ghanaian fans in general. Siasia claims he gave Ghana a lot to laugh about on Saturday afternoon and it is time they repay him by letting him win the match on Tuesday to keep his job.

"I can’t believe what I have been hearing from the Ghanaian press. I gave Ghana a lot to entertained themselves with. It is not easy to make sure a team like the Super Eagles miss out on a big tournament like that. They[Ghanaians] want to beat us again? For what?”

He then went on to call the Ghanaian football community ungrateful while pleading to the Black stars to have pity on him. ” These fans are ungrateful. I gave them an entertaining afternoon and it is time for them to pay me by letting me keep my job. I hope the players we meet on Tuesday will have mercy on my team and not increase the unemployment rate” said a very disappointed Siasia.

Both Ghana and Nigeria arrived in London on Sunday morning and trained in the late afternoon.

Gang Rape: Police Arrest LASU Student

The Suspects - Left: Shola Owolabi, Right Tayo Adewale

Looking exhausted and pale, apparently unable to fathom how she managed to make it to her Festac home last Friday, after she was gang -raped in an uncompleted building on Ago palace way, in Okota area of Isolo, Lagos, Sandy , as she is fondly called, recalled with pain what she described as the worst experience she has ever had in her 20 years of existence.
On closer observation, the Anambra state- born bar attendant in a popular hotel in Festac Town was discovered to have visible mark of bite on her right shoulder and chest, coupled with bruises on other parts of her body, an injury she reportedly sustained in her bid to free herself from the rapists.
Unfortunately, her strength could not match those of the two men, as one of them reportedly pinned her two hands down while the other pinned her two legs to the ground as he unfastened her belt. At a point, she became weak and watched helplessly as one of the men had carnal knowledge of her against her will.
As if that was not enough , the principal perpetrator, a 200 level student of the Lagos State University, identified as Olushola Owolabi , took some photographs of Sandy in her nude , threatening to paste it on her facebook for the whole world to see if she revealed what transpired to anybody including the Police.

'Private Funeral' Held For Steve Jobs...Westboro Baptist Church Threatens To Picket The Funeral

A private funeral for Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who died on Wednesday after a seven-year battle with pancreatic cancer, was held, according to a media report.
It was a small private gathering yesterday, the Wall Street Journal quoted a person familiar with the matter as saying. The person did not reveal where or at what time the event took place, citing privacy for Jobs’ family.
However a controversial church threatened it would picket the funeral because Mr Jobs ‘gave God no glory and taught sin’. But Westboro Baptist Church ironically made the announcement on an iPhone - and later said they would only picket a public remembrance.

But Margie Phelps of the Westboro Baptist Church tweeted on her iPhone that the church her father founded would be picketing the event. She said on 'Twitter for iPhone': ‘Westboro will picket his funeral. He had a huge platform; gave God no glory & taught sin. MT @AP: Apple co-founder Steve Jobs has died at 56’.

The Kansas-based church has previously caused outrage by claiming God is punishing the military for America’s tolerance of gay people. But she later wrote: ‘Keep it private, we won't come; public worship, we'll be there. Deal? #warnliving MT @WSJ: Steve Jobs funeral today; small private gathering’.The funeral comes just two days after the former Apple CEO died on Wednesday, following a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf Did Not Deserve The Nobel Peace Prize...Says George Weah

Liberian opposition leaders Winston Tubman and George Weah said on Friday that President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf did not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize and awarding it to her was a "provocative intervention" in Liberian politics.
Sirleaf, who won the prize along with fellow Liberian Leymah Gbowee, a peace activist, and Yemeni pro-democracy campaigner Tawakul Karman, faces Tubman and 14 other candidates in a first-round presidential vote on October 11.
"She does not deserve it. She is a warmonger. She brought war on our country and spoiled the country," Tubman told Reuters late on Friday during a rally by his CDC party in a stadium packed with 60,000 people in the Liberian capital.
"Now she has said she will run again and on the eve of the election the Nobel Peace Prize committee gives her this prize, which we think is a provocative intervention within our politics," he said.
Earlier in Oslo on Friday, Norwegian Nobel Committee chairman Thorbjoern Jagland dismissed suggestions that the award to Sirleaf might look like meddling in the Liberian vote.
Tubman's presidential running mate Weah, a former Liberian soccer star, said he did not care about the prize because Sirleaf did not deserve it. "She won it but I don't know for what," Weah also told Reuters.
"Every Liberian is preparing for Madame Sirleaf to leave power and we will tell the world that we are tired of her inability to reconcile us and we will tell her that we are getting ready for her to leave power in October 11," he said.
The Nobel committee said all three women were rewarded for "their non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women's rights to full participation in peace-building work".
Sirleaf's detractors say she has not done enough to heal her West African nation's divisions. She has admitted providing supplies and money to rebel leader and indicted war criminal Charles Taylor in the early years of Liberia's civil war, something her critics say dims her image as a promoter of peace.
Analysts have said the award was likely to bolster Sirleaf's chances at the poll, even possibly allowing her to win an absolute majority in the first round and avoid a run-off, but also risks aggravating tension in a country scarred by civil war.

UK-Based Nigerian Prisoners To Be Transferred To Nigerian Prison

Nigeria's lower house of parliament has approved a deal in which offenders convicted in Britain will serve out their jail terms in their home country.
The agreement still requires approval from the Senate, where it is likely to pass soon.
About 600 Nigerian inmates are being held in British jails, but it is not clear how many will face deportation.
The decision follows a visit by British Prime Minister David Cameron to Nigeria in July.
The UK Ministry of Justice said foreigners who "abuse our hospitality" and have no legal right to stay should be deported "at the earliest opportunity".
"Where possible those foreign nationals who receive a prison sentence should serve their sentences in their own countries," the ministry said.
The ministry said the British government had a number of transfer agreements, but most required the consent of the prisoner.
It was now working on transfer agreements that did not require that consent, it said.
Nigerian prisons are already overcrowded but Nigerian MP Jerry Manwe said that they could accommodate the influx of new inmates.

Although he is one of the biggest and most influential musicians in Africa, King Sunny has one regret, his lack of University education.
Pained by this short -coming, he has forbidden his daughters from getting married without acquiring a University degree.
He bared his mind to Saturday Vanguard at the wedding of one his daughters’ Ruth, last Sunday in Ondo, Ondo State and advised would- be suitors to steer clear of his daughters who are yet to meet his expectations.
Why did you decide to make your daughter wed in a low- key event?
The request was hers. She told me that she just wanted to go to the registry and have a small reception. I had to start calling my friends and apologising that we are not having an elaborate wedding. Besides, I have other things to celebrate , like my 65th birthday and my mum’s one year remembrance. So, there was no need to invite the whole world to the wedding and call them again a few days later to come for my mum’s anniversary and my birthday.

Chelsea Star Obi Mikel Refuses To Pay $5,000 Fine After Emotional Visit To Father

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has made a u-turn and said he will not pay a fine of $5,000 imposed for reporting late to the Nigeria training camp here this week.
Mikel, who earlier said he had put the incident behind him and was focused on Saturday's crucial 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea, has insisted he did nothing wrong and so will not pay the fine.

The defensive midfielder was supposed to join up with the 22-man squad by midnight Tuesday but instead arrived at the team hotel early on Wednesday morning.
"No, I don't think I will pay any fine because I did not do anything wrong. I have reported to the camp and I have a very, very genuine reason (for not coming until Wednesday)," the England-based star insisted at a press briefing on Thursday.
Emotional visit that led to a fine...
"If the manager (Samson Siasia) would tell Nigerians my reason, anyone in that situation will reason with me."
Mikel is believed to have gone to the central town of Jos to visit his father, who was recently freed by the police from a gang of kidnappers.
He then trained with the team on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
The midfielder revealed that no Nigeria team official has yet told him that he should pay the fine.
Nigeria need to win this weekend to topple Guinea from the top of qualifying Group B.
They are three points behind the group leaders with only the overall group winners guaranteed automatic passage to the Nations Cup in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea in January.
