Fake NYSC Camp Discovered By State Security Service (SSS) In Niger State, Nigeria

A fake National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp has been discovered by Niger state command of the State Security Service (SSS) in Bosso Local Government area of the state.

The Assistant Director Security, Mr. Essien Okon told Channels Television at the command headquarters in Minna that the victims comprising of twenty-one males and thirteen females, suspected foul play when on arrival at the orientation camp discovered they were only thirty four and were left alone for three days without any NYSC staff on hand to brief them.

He said the men of the command then commenced a search and in the process discovered the fake orientation camp where the victim were stranded having been abandoned by the operators of the fake orientation camp. Okon said after staying in the camp for three days without food the victims started making contacts with their parents and guardians who alerted the command of the situation.

Essien Okon explained the victims which are products of part-time programmes of six universities across the countryand  were forced to part with sums of money ranging from one hundred and fifty thousand naira (N150,000) to three hundred and fifty thousand naira (N350,000) to facilitate their participation in the NYSC scheme.

While the victims will be released to the parents and guardians, the command is on the heels of the syndicate who are presently at large, Okon stated.

Channels Television crew were however not allowed to use either a still or video camera, thereby making picture and video evidences unobtainable.
